Tisha Stadnicki - Biography

Tisha Stadnicki has been teaching for 19 years and has been an instructor at Northeastern for 15 of those years. She has been a professional singer and musician for over 30 years.

Prof. Stadnicki began performing as a singer at the age of 5 with her mother's musical group. She was featured on WCVB channel 5 at the age of 8, singing a song in the Boston area for The Jerry Lewis Telethon. She then joined the American Federation of Musicians as a clarinetist and pianist at the age of 13. She was a kid co-host and performer on WBZ's "People are Talking" show on channel 4 in Boston at age 15. From being seen on that program, she was then invited to sing on KDKA's show "Pittsburgh 2Day" on channel 2 in Pittsburgh, PA.

After performing with her parents through her teens, Prof. Stadnicki later formed her own jazz and pop groups at the age of 18. She has performed throughout New England, New Brunswick, Canada, New York, and Washington D.C. The video of her jazz quartet was featured on BET'S "Jazz Discovery Show."

As a singer/musician/songwriter, Prof. Stadnicki was featured on CD Review's World Talent Hunt CD for her song "I Am Ready" and The Boston Rock n' Roll Anthology series CD for her song "Feel So Good." She played all the instruments and produced the track. She also completed a CD of standards and originals in 2000 with her singing and playing the piano, and her father on saxophone, called "For Everything I Am." In addition, Prof. Stadnicki has written a handbook on vocal improvisation and style techniques called "Singing and Beyond." It has an accompanying CD with vocal and piano examples.

Prof. Stadnicki has also worked as a voice-over artist for Boston, Worcester, and Canadian commercials. Her work has been on radio, Logan Airport Buses, and the internet. She has also performed as a singing session artist for jingles and other artists' CDs, some of which have been featured on radio as well.

Currently, she is a lessons instructor for Jazz/Pop voice and piano at Northeastern and teaches the Create Your Own Music and Jazz Choir and Combo ensembles. She also is the director of the Tufts University Jazz Choir.

She is a current member of NATS (The National Association of Teachers of Singing). Through the NATS New England conferences, she has taught master classes in voice at other universities and at other teachers' private studios. She is also a member of ASCAP.

A new course "Pop, Jazz, and Rock Singing" (MUSC 1142) taught by Prof. Stadnicki uses her own handbook and recorded CDs called Singing and Beyond.
