Tony Lada
Tony Lada was a Professor of Performance Studies and Trombone at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts for 40 years until his retirement in 2013. His teaching duties included: Harmonic Considerations in Improvisation, Chord Scale Theory in Improvisation and Jazz Interpretation.
Prior to becoming a Berklee faculty member, Tony played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, with Woody Herman, and with Buddy Rich.
Tony played professionally for fifty-three years until his retirement and led his own quartet at local jazz clubs. Therefore it is no surprise that he is well known to Boston Jazz audiences and the international music community as one of the most prominent jazz trombonists on the scene.
His recordings have been critically acclaimed both locally and internationally.
THE VERY THOUGHT OF YOU, on Sterling Bell Records, was a Boston Music Awards nominee for best jazz album in 1988.
