My Mind's Eye Was Blind at Birth

Tom Ewart

My mind's eye was blind at birth
and did not focus properly until I was six;
I know today who I was prior to that time
because of Grandma's stories and family albums.
I don't remember my smallness at all.

Now I have grown at least physically tall.
My adult task of understanding becomes
harder still; I have to discover the sign
pointing out the road back to my youth. The trick
is to recapitulate for what it's worth.
