Eunmi Shim

Professor Eunmi Shim is on the music faculty of Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) where she holds the position of associate professor of music.

Prior to her joining the WPI faculty in 2004, Eunmi Shim taught at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She holds a bachelor's degree in piano performance from Seoul National University in Seoul, Korea, and holds a master of music in musicology and a PhD in musicology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Shim has dual interests in music, both classical and jazz. Her PhD dissertation focussed on the music and teaching practices of Lennie Tristano (1919-1978). She is the author of "Lennie Tristano: His Life In Music" which was published in 2007. In addition, she has research interests in the music of Robert Schumann.
