Jeff Colella

Mr. Colella toured with the late and legendary Lou Rawls, as his pianist/conductor, for nearly sixteen years until his untimely passing in 2006, appearing at Jazz Festivals, clubs, and with orchestras throughout the U.S. and abroad.  Prior to that he toured worldwide for seven years with the Jazz Tap Ensemble.  In addition, Mr. Colella has also served as Musical Director for another of our legendary singers, Mr. Jack Jones.

Jeff has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of artists, including Diane Schurr, Stacey Rowles, Larry Koonse, Bobby Shew, Bob Sheppard, Shiela Jordan, Kenny Washington, Judy Wexler, Denise Donatelli, Julie Kelly, Catte Adams, Brian Stokes Mitchell, the Bill Holman Big Band, the Mike Barrone Big Band, Gregory Hines, Savion Glover, Morgana King, Janice Mann, Anita O'Day, John Vance, Lorenzo Lamas, Dolly Parton, Frank Potenza, John Pagano, Paulette McWilliams and Miki Howard to name a few.

One of LA's busiest jazz pianists, he has appeared in concert as a solo artist and with his Trio, and maintains a busy freelance schedule as pianist, arranger, composer and clinician.  In addition to his professional schedule, he recently completed graduate work at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, and is currently on the faculty at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood.

Noted saxophonist Bob Sheppard has recorded two of Mr. Colella's compositions on his most recent cd, entitled "Close Your Eyes" on BFM Records, and Jeff's work as arranger and pianist can also be heard on the upcoming Summit Records release "Lost In The Stars" featuring vocalist Deborah Shulman and trombonist Larry Zalkind. Jeff's most recent recording with his trio, "Alone Together" was released in January '03 on Sea Breeze Records, and his previous release "Letting Go" - The Jeff Colella Trio, is also available on the Sea Breeze record label.
