The Duende Project

Tom Ewart

The Duende Project is the collaboration between Tony Brown, veteran performance poet, and Steven Lanning-Cafaro, bassist/guitarist.

Tony has been writing for over 40 years, and publishing and performing his work for over 30.  A three-time Pushcart Prize nominee, his work has appeared in many journals and anthologies.  He has traveled all over the country, slammed for the Worcester Poets’ Asylum, organized and hosted readings and reading series, and written on poetry for the website http://www.gotpoetry.com.

Steven’s been the featured bassist for many bands in the RI/CT/MA area over the years, and is an acclaimed bass teacher and virtuoso player of 4,5, and 6 string electric bass, an accomplished nylon-string jazz guitarist, and a developing upright bassist as well.

As The Duende Project, they’ve spent 6 years performing up and down the East Coast and have released four collections of their work. Together and separately they have opened for and performed with artists as diverse as jazz bass genius William Parker, the Jeff Robinson Trio, poetry slam founder Marc Smith, and performance art  legend Laurie Anderson.

Their website at http://www.reverbnation.com/theduendeproject offers links to videos and music, show schedules, and more.  Tony’s personal blog of constantly updated new poems, “Dark Matter,”  is at radioactiveart.wordpress.com. And of course, there’s the inevitable Facebook page for The Duende Project...titled, of course, “The Duende Project.”
